The economist intelligence unit (eiu) annually releases its global liveability index, ranking cities based on stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education,. The global liveability index quantifies the challenges presented to an individual’s lifestyle and quality of life in 173 cities.
The syrian capital has been the least liveable city in the index since 2013, and scored just 30.7 in 2024. Its stability score of 20 is tied with karachi as the lowest of all.
